Answer: Option (c) newspapers were thrown from the moving train had to be collected
Explanation:
Samsuddin was forced to seek a helping hand because newspapers were thrown from the moving train had to be collected.
The above incident is from Abdul Kalam’s biography “Wings of Fire” and the chapter is 'My Childhood', where the childhood of Dr Kalam is outlayed in details.
When the second world war began in 1939 Dr Kalam was only eight. He used to collect the seeds and sell them to the provisional shop on Mosque Street. He then used to go through the paper Dinamani for war updates. The world war initially did not have any impact on the area (town of Rameswaram) as it was an isolated area.
But soon India was forced to join the Allied forces and a situation like a state of emergency was declared. The effects of war soon started showing up. The first major incident that was felt was the suspension of train halt at Rameswaram station.
The only way left to keep the supply of paper in Rameswaram intact was to bundle and throw them out of the moving train on the Rameswaram road which lied between Rameswaram and Dhanuskodi. This forced Samsuddin to seek a helping hand to the newspaper bundles.
Hope this helps.
