We can persuade them by telling the importance of food for people. We will tell them that there are many people in the world who hardly get food one time a day. So instead of wasting that food they can give it to those poor people who really need it to survive. And other thing they can do that they shouldn't order a lot of food in one time. First they should order food in such quantity that they can eat easily and comfortably. After eating that food if they still feel hungry then again they should order the required food. In this way they can save food as well as Money which get wasted in ordering a lot of food in one time which we can't eat and get wasted.

I will tell them not to waste food and throw it into waste bin.
It is not a good thing to waste food when there are people not having enough food to eat.  The leftovers in a restaurant may be sent to some orphanages. But it is perhaps not the proper way of feeding orphans and beggars, to give them discarded and thrown food.
