Please follow this rule:
+ and + = +   ,    + and -- =  --   .   – and + = --   ,   -- and -- = +
PS : The number that is the answer takes the sign of the larger number.
Eg. 3 + (-2) = 3 – 2 = 1
( + and –  became  –  and the sign for the answer is + as 1 takes the sign  of the larger number which is 3)
 (a)   (--2) + 1 = --2 + 1 = --1
( Calculation is minus as per the rule and the sign for the answer 1 is of the larger number which is –2 )
(b)  (--5) + (--2) = --5 –2 = --7
(Calculation is plus as per the rule and the answer 7 takes the sign of the larger number --7)
