3x = 4-2y

=>x = (4-2y)/3......(3)

we get,

8 × (4-2y)/3 +5y = 9

=> 32-16y + 15 = 27

=> -16y = 27-47

=> y = 20/16

=> y = 5/4

keep in (3),

x = (4-2×5/4)3

= (4-5/2)/3

= (8-5)/6

= 3/6

= 1/2
