Solution :-
Question 5 - (i)
[{- 4/9 - 3/4} - (-2/12)] - 4/9 - {3/4 - (- 2/12)}
⇒ [- 4/9 - 3/4 + 2/12] ⇒ - 4/9 - {3/4 + 2/12}
⇒ LCM = of 9, 4 and 12 is 36 ⇒ LCM of 4 and 12 is 12
⇒ (- 16 - 27 + 6)/36 ⇒ - 4/9 - {9 + 2}/12
⇒ - 37/36 ⇒ - 4/9 - 11/12
⇒ LCM of 9 and 12 is 36
⇒ (- 16 - 33)/36
⇒ - 49/36
Hence, - 37/36 ≠ - 49/36
Question - 5 (ii)
[3/7 - {- 7/9}] - 2/7 3/7 - (- 7/9 - 2/7)
⇒ [3/7 + 7/9] - 2/7 ⇒ LCM of 9 and 7 is 63
⇒ 3/7 + 7/9 - 2/7 ⇒ 3/7 - (- 49 - 18)/63
LCM of 7 and 9 is 63 ⇒ 3/7 - (- 67/63)
⇒ (27 + 49 - 18)/63 ⇒ 3/7 + 67/63
⇒ 58/63 ⇒ LCM of 7 and 63 is 63
⇒ (27 + 67)/63
⇒ 94/63
Hence, 58/63 ≠ 94/63
Question 5 - (i)
[{- 4/9 - 3/4} - (-2/12)] - 4/9 - {3/4 - (- 2/12)}
⇒ [- 4/9 - 3/4 + 2/12] ⇒ - 4/9 - {3/4 + 2/12}
