Hey Mate,

It is used in chemistry lab and for many commercial process.

Salt water is turned into fresh water through distillation.And gasoline are separated from crude oil by distillation.

Distillation may result in essentially complete separation, or it may be a partial separation that increases the concentration of selected components in the mixture.
