S O L U T I O N :

Let Present age of swati be x years.

Present age of ravi be y years.

According to the question,

x = y - 3 _________(1)

x + y = 33 ________(2)

Solving (1) and (2),

x - y = -3

x + y = 33

2x = 30

=> x = 30/2

=> x = 15

•°• Age of swati is 15 years.

Now, put x = 15 in (1)

=> 15 = y - 3

=> 15 + 3 = y

=> y = 18

•°• Age of ravi is 18 years.
