The age of Ashu and Nishu are in the ratio of 5:6 . Five years from now their ages willbe 6:7 . Find their present age

let the present age of Ashu and Nishu be 5X and 6X respectively.
according to the question,
5X+5/6X+5 = 6/7
by cross-multiplication, we get,
7(5X+5) = 6(6X+5)
or, 35X+35 = 36X+30
or, 36X-35X = 35-30
or, X = 5

Therefore, present age of Ashu is 5X = 5×5= 25 years,
and that of Nishu is 6X = 6×5 = 30 years

ratio of there age now 5X/6X

five years later

5X+ 5 /6X+ 5 = 6/7 ( cross multiply)

35X+35/36X+30

taking X to R.H.S

35-30 = 36X - 35X

==> X = 5

now put X value in ratios

Ashu present age is = 5X = 5*5 = 25 years

Nishu present age is = 6X = 6*5 = 30 years
