There are three types of alkene which can produce 2,3-dimethyl-2 butanol,

•The first alkene is 2,3-dimethyl butene which produce 2,3-dimethyl-2 butanol by the hydration process

• The second one alkene is 2,3-dimethyl but-2-ene which produce 2,3-dimethyl-2 butanol by hydration process.

• The third one is 3,3 dimethyl but-1-ene which can produce 2,3-dimethyl-2 butanol by hydration process. Here in this hydration ,the reaction is happened by two steps ,here rearrangement process is happened which is shown in the picture below.
