M.N.Roy, an Indian pioneer of the Communist movement had first proposed the idea of forming a Constituent Assembly of India in 1934, which was accepted by the British in 1940.

The Constituent Assembly of India allowed Indians to draft their own constitution, which was called the Constitution of India and was implemented in 1946.

The Constituent Assembly of India was led by a committee of experts who were majorly a part of the Congress Assembly Party, and also had people from all walks of life from the Indian society.

Many talented people were a part of the Constituent Assembly, namely, Jawaharlal Nehru, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, Sarojini Naidu, Sardar Patel, C. Rajgopalachari, N.G. Ayyangar, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, Rajendra Prasad, A.K. Ayyar, Pt. Pant, K.M. Munshi, H.N. Kunzhu etc.

Since there were so many talented experts in the committee, the Constituent Assembly was known to be "a galaxy of outstanding leaders".
