given the perimeter (the distance around the rectangular field) of the rectangular field is 400m.

ATQ, the length of the field is 26m more than it's breadth.

let the breadth and length of the rectangular field be x and y respectively.

➡ y = x + 26 --------(i)

perimeter of the rectangular field = 400m

formula for the perimeter of a rectangle is 2 (l + b)

➡ 2 (l + b) = 400m

➡ 2 (y + x) = 400m --------(ii)

putting value of y in (ii)

➡ 2 (x + 26 + x) = 400m

➡ 2x + 26 = 400/2

➡ 2x + 26 = 200m

➡ 2x = 200 - 26

➡ 2x = 174

➡ x = 174/2

➡ x = 87m

hence,

breadth of the rectangular field = x = 87m

length of the rectangular field = x + 26 = 113m

Step-by-step explanation:

let breadth, b=x

and length, l=x+26m

perimeter of rectangle =2*(l+b)

400 = 2*(26+x+x)

400/2=26+2x

200-26=2x

174/2=x

87=x

breadth is 87m

and length is 87+26=114m
