The fifth term of an A.P is 26 and its 10th term is 51. Find the A.P

LET the first term be a and commmon difference be d .

∴ Fifth term = a + 4d = 26.......(i)

Tenth term = a + 9d = 51......(ii)

(ii) - (i) ⇒ a + 9d - a - 4d = 51 - 26

⇒5d = 25

d = 5.

Putting d = 5 in (i) ⇒ a + (4 × 5) = 26

⇒ a + 20 = 26

⇒ a = 6

NOW, the A.P. = a , (a + d) , (a + 2d) , (a + 3d) ..........

⇒ 6 , (6 + 5) , (6 + 5 + 5) ,(6 + 5 + 5+ 5)........

⇒6 , 11 , 16 , 21 , ..........

Hence , the A.P. = 6, 11 , 16 , 21 , .......
