Thanks for the question!

It is definitely a very interesting question to solve and do some brainstorming.

The answer is d. Zacharias Jansen
Zacharias Jansen is credited with the discovery of the first compound microscope.

The microscope was actually invented by Galileo who named it “Little Eye” but Giovanni Faber finally renamed it as “microscope”.

Microscope was rather discovered than invented and this was done using different lenses at various combinations so that the nearby objects appeared enlarged.

The first microscope was simply a tube with lenses at both the ends.During the 1590's, two Dutch spectacle makers, Zacharias Jansen and his father Hans Jansen started experimenting with these lenses. And their outcome was the resultant compound microscope which is an important laboratory tool today.
