The the median will be the average of n/2th term and n/2 +1 term
n/2 = 12/2 = 6th observation = x-2
n/2 + 1 = 6+1 = 7 th observation = x+4
Average of x-2 and x+4 is median
x-2+x+4 /2 = 57
2x+2 = 57×2
2(x+1) = 57×2
x+1 = 57×2/2
x+1 = 57
x = 57-1
x = 56
