This common blood test measures the amount of various types of blood cells in a sample of your blood. Blood cancers may be detected using this test if too many or too few of a type of blood cell or abnormal cells are found. A bone marrow biopsy may help confirm a diagnosis of a blood cancer. Fractional Test Meal Method

  • It is the technique used chiefly in the diagnosis of gastro-esophageal reflux disease (GERD).
  • This is done by examining the secretion of gastric juices and the stomach contents sampled at intervals via a stomach tube after a test meal of gruel.
  • It is usual to test for gastric pH, measure peptic activity, etc.

Note: GERD is a condition when the stomach acids frequently moves up (acid reflux) into esophagus (food pipe) causing irritation in the lining of the food pipe.
