Frequency of a wave is the number of oscillations or vibrations in a second. Now, when a sound wave of frequency 1.5 kHz travels in water, its frequency would remain unchanged.

This is because the speed of the wave equals its wavelength multiplied by the frequency, and underwater, both the speed and the wavelength change.

The speed changes (it increases) since unlike air, water particles are densely packed. The wave also undergoes a change in its length per cycle. The frequency, however, which is the ratio of the speed and the wavelength, remains the same.
