Length = x Cm
Breadth = x-6 cm
(X+3)(x- 8)= x(x-6)
X^2-5x-24= x^2-6x
-5x-24 = -6x
X=24
So length = 24cm and breadth = 18 cm

Step-by-step explanation:

let the original breadth be x

original length=x+6

area=x×(x+6)

modified length=(x+6)+3

modified breadth=x-2

area=(x+6) +3×x-2=x+9×x-2

area of both rectangles is equal

therefore, x(x+6) = (x+9) (x-2)

=x²+6x=x²-2x+9x-18

=x²+6x=x²+7x-18

=x²-x²+6x-7x=-18

=-x=-18

=x=18

original breadth=x=18

original length=x+6=18+6=24
