Given :

The longer side of a parallelogram is 54cm and the corresponding altitude is 16cm.

To Find:

If the altitude corresponding to the shorter side is 24cm,find the length of shorter side

Solution:

The longer side of a parallelogram is 54cm

Corresponding height of longer length = 16 cm

Area of parallelogram =Base \times Height = 54 \times 16 = 864 cm^2

Let the shorter side of parallelogram be x

Height corresponding to shorter side = 24 cm

Area of parallelogram = 24 \times x = 24x

So, 24x = 864

x=\frac{864}{24}

x= 36

Hence The length of shorter side is 36 cm
