Answer :-

Given :-

  • Present age of father is four times his son.

  • After 20 years age of father will be twice the age of son.

To Find :-

  • Present age of father and son

Solution :-

Let the present age of son be x

Present age of father = 4x

Age after 20 years :-

→ Son's age = x + 20

→ Father's age = 4x + 20

According to the question :-

→ 2( x + 20 ) = 4x + 20

→ 2x + 40 = 4x + 20

→ 4x - 2x = 40 - 20

→ 2x = 20

→ x = 20 / 2

→ x = 10

Age of son = 10 years

Age of father = 40 years

Answer:

son's age =10 ,father's age =40

Step-by-step explanation:

let the son's age be x

and father's age be y

20 years hence son's age =x+20

father's age =y+20

y+20=2(x+20)

y+20=2x+40

2x-y+20=0----------------------------(1)

present,

y=4x-----------------------------------(2)

using 2 in 1,

2x-4x+20=0

-2x=-20

x=20/2

x=10

y=4*10

y=40
