To Find:-

  • Find the present age of John’s father.

Given:-

  • The sum of present ages of John and his father is 58 years.
  • John is 24 years younger than his father.

Solution:-

Let the present age of John be " x "

Fathers age be " x + 24 "

\tt\implies \: x + x + 24 = 58

\tt\implies \: 2x = 58 - 24

\tt\implies \: 2x = 34

\tt\implies \: x = \dfrac {34} {2}

\tt\implies \: x = 17

Hence,

  • \tt \: Present \: age \: of \: John = 17 \: years.
  • \tt \: Age \: of \: father \: is \: x + 24 = 17 + 24 = 41 years.

Question:-

  • The sum of present ages of John and his father is 58 years. If John is 24 years younger than his father, then find the present age of John’s father.

 \\ \\

Given :-

  • The Sum of the Ages of Jhon and his father is 58 years.
  • Jhon is 24 years younger than his father,

 \\ \\

To Find :-

  • Present Ages of of both the people.

 \\ \\

Solution :-

  • Let the Jhon's Father age be x + 24
  • Then, Jhon's age be x

 \\

According to the Question , sum of their ages is 58. Let's create a linear equation for this .

 \\

\qquad \quad {:} \longrightarrow \sf { \boxed{{\bf{ Jhon's \: age \: + \: Father's \: age \: = \: 58 }} }}\\

\qquad \quad {:} \longrightarrow \sf{\sf{x \: + \: 24 \: + \: x \: = \: 58 }}\\

\qquad \quad {:} \longrightarrow \sf{\sf{2x \: + \: 24 \: = \: 58 }}\\

\qquad \quad {:} \longrightarrow \sf{\sf{2x \: = \: 58 \: - \: 24 }}\\

\qquad \quad {:} \longrightarrow \sf{\sf{2x \: = \: 34 }}\\

\qquad \quad {:} \longrightarrow \sf{\sf{x \: = \: \cancel{ \frac{34}{2} } }}\\

\qquad \quad {:} \longrightarrow \sf{\bf{x \: = \: 14 }}\\

\longmapsto\tt{Jhon's \:age \: = \: x} \\

\longmapsto{ \boxed{\tt{Jhon's\:age \: = \: 14years}}}\\ \\

\longmapsto\tt{Father's \:age \: = \: x+24} \\

\longmapsto\tt{Father's \:age \: = \: 17+24} \\

\longmapsto{ \boxed{\tt{Father\:age \: = \: 41years}}}\\ \\
