Present Age of "a" = 25 years
Present Age of "b" = 5 years

Let their Present age be x & y.

So, x + y = 30 _______(i)

After 5 years their are will be:

(x+5) & (y+5) years respectively.

Now, x+5 = 3(y + 5) ______(ii)

Solve the 2 equations, you'll get

x = 25 years
y = 5 years

Thankyou!!!

Let the present age of a = x years
Let the present age of b = y years

According to question :

1st Condition :

x + y = 30 ...(1)

After Five years :

Age of a = x + 5
Age of b = y + 5

2nd Condition :

x + 5 = 3(y + 5)

x + 5 = 3y + 15

x + 5 - 3y - 15 = 0

x - 3y - 10 = 0

x - 3y = 10 ...(2)

From Equation (1) :

x + y = 30

x = 30 - y ...(3)

put the value of x in equation (2)

x - 3y = 10

(30 - y) - 3y = 10

30 - 4y = 10

4y + 10 = 30

4y = 30 - 10

4y = 20

y = 20 / 4

y = 5

put the value of y in equation (3)

x = 30 - y

x = 30 - 5

x = 25

The present age of a = x = 25 years
The present age of b = y = 5 years.
