Let mother's age=x
Daughter's age =50-x (sum of their ages is 50)

After 20 years,

Mother 's age=x+20
Daughter's age=50-x+20
=70-x

According to question,

x+20=2(70-x)
x+20=140-2x
2x+x=140-20
3x=120
x=120÷3
x=40

Hence mother's age is x that is 40 years
AND
Daughter's age is 50-x that is 10 years
