Solution :

Let x , ( 40 - x ) are two numbers .

Their Difference = 14 [ given ]

=> x - ( 40 - x ) = 14

=> x - 40 + x = 14

=> 2x = 14 + 40

=> 2x = 54

=> x = 54/2

=> x = 27

Therefore ,

Required two numbers are,

x = 27 ,

40 - x = 40 - 27 = 13
