The total cost of a certain length of a piece of cloth is Rs. 200. If the piece was 5mlonger and each metre of cloth costs Rs. 2 less, the cost of the price would have remained unchanged. How long is the piece and what is the original rate per meter

Let the length be x and rate per metre be y.
xy=200.....(i)
y=200/x
(x+5)(y-2)=200......(ii)
xy-2x+5y-10=200
x(200/x)-2x+5(200/x)-10=200
200-2x+1000/x=210
x2+5x-500=0
a=1
b=5
c=-500
x= -5+45/2
  =40/2
  =20
x=-5-45/2
  =-50/2
  = -25
20 x y = 200
y=10
Length of the cloth is 20m and the rate per metre is Rs.10
