Question :-

  • The value of k for which -4 is zero of polynomial x square minus x minus ( 2K plus 2)

Answer :-

  • P (x) =  x^2 - x - 20

Given :-

  • One zero of the polynomial = -4

To find :-

  • The value of K

Solution :-

\implies\tt P (x) = x^2 - x-2k-2

\implies\tt P (-4) = 16-(-4)-2k-2

\implies\tt 0 = 16+4-2 k-2

\implies\tt 0=18-2k

\therefore\tt 2k = 18

\implies\tt k =  \dfrac{ \cancel  {18} }{\cancel{2}  }

 \large\implies\tt \boxed{ k = 9}

 \therefore\tt Value \: of \: K \: = \: 9

\therefore\tt P (x) = x^2 - x -(18+2) = x^2 -x -20
