Now, we can form a triangle at the top considering the base length (distance between feet) which will remain same till top Hence, base of triangle, B = 12

Now we have to find out the height of the triangle, which can be find out by subtracting the lengths of the pole so,

Height, H = 11-6=5

Now, the triangle formed is right angled triangle as the poles are parallel to base, hence they form the right angle.

Now, by Pythagoras theorem

 {hypotenuse}^{2}  =  {base}^{2}  +  {height}^{2}  \\  {hypotenuse}^{2} =  {12}^{2}  +  {5}^{2}  \\  {hypotenuse}^{2} = 144 + 25 \\  {hypotenuse}^{2} = 169 \\  {hypotenuse} =  \sqrt{169}  = 13

Hence, the distance between top of poles is 13m
