Two slits in Young's experiment have widths in the ratio 81 : 1. What is the ratio of the amplitudes of light waves coming from them ?
(Ans. : 9 : I)

Solution :

Width ratio w1 / w2 = I1/I2= 81 / 1

Amplitude ratio is a1/a2 = √I1/I2

=√81/1

=9:1
