The short answer of it is that you cannot see a new moon at night. Anew moon is not in the sky at night! It rises with the sun and sets with the sun. The closest you can get to "seeing" a new moon is a "waxing crescent" right after the sun sets, or a "waning crescent" right before the sun rises.Dec 14, 2010
