In 1945 the Potsdam agreement included that Germany would keep the red army occupied in East Europe, Truman was informed that the USA had a  atomic bomb during Yalta , the US troops going home and the British and US attitudes were hardening towards the USSR as they saw that the Soviets were draining the already devastated economy of East Germany by taking reparations. These all increased tension between the superpowers.
