Seismic surface waves travel along the Earth's surface. They can beclassified as a form of mechanicalsurface waves. They are called surface waves, as they diminish as they get further from the surface. They travel more slowly than seismic body waves(P and S).

Explanation:

Seismic waves travel through the earth and often are a result of the tectonic earthquake which also sometimes happen because of an explosion. These seismic waves are of two types. These are namely body wave and surface wave. The earthquake and the seismic waves move through and around the earth and the study is called seismology. Seismologist is the scientist who studies seismic waves and earthquakes.
