Answer:

The following are the problems faces by political parties :

i) Lack of internal democracy :

Political parties do not hold regular meetings, internal elections for its leadership, organisational meetings, etc. Due to this power remains in the hands of few leaders at the top. The members at lower position do not get the chance to rise above. This makes them feel to change party allegiance or defection. Lower members do not know what is going in the party or what decision is taken by the party.

ii) Dynastic Succession : It is the tendency which is seen in most of the democracies. In this power remains in the hands of family members or relatives of the leader and other members do nor get chance to hold power or take part in decision making.

iii) Money and Muscle power: parties try to favour and give membership to those candidates who have money. This increases the influence of rich people in decision making. Also parties give membership to those candidates who have criminal background or muscle power so that they can raise votes for the party.

iv) Decline in difference of ideology:

Most of the political parties do not provide difference in their ideologies. This do not provide choice to the voters. For e.g. the difference between the labour party and the conservative party in Britain is only the details of implementation of fundamentals but their fundamental ideologies are same.

v) Use of communalism and casteism: there has been a growing influence of casteism and communalism in political parties. They try to gain votes of people by pushing issues of communalism and casteism in background. This often leads to issues of support to a specific caste by a political party.
