ration shops are made by the government to provide things of daily need to the poor at a price less than the market price. for this the govt buy stocks of food grains from the peasants and store it in buffer stock.
the ration shops have been setup in most of the localities. however, sometimes the quality of the stock is much poor than what it should be so the poor had to depend on market for their need.
also sometimes the shopkeepers practice illegal ways to get their personal income raised by selling less amount of grain or selling it at a higher price

The problems in the functioning of ration shops are as follows -
1) The ration shops owners are very corrupt they sells the goods in market for their own profits.
2) The opening of ration shops are irregular which creates trouble for consumers.
3) They don't store the products in hygiene place which may make people ill or unhealthy.
