  • Prevention of Cruelty to Animals 1960.
  • Indian Forests Act 1927.
  • Wildlife Protection Act 1972.
  • Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act 1974.
  • Mining and Mineral Development Regulation Act 1957.
  • Forest Conservation Act 1980.
  • Fisheries Act 1897.

The main steps of forest policy are protection, conservation and development of forest.

The institutes have been set up at Dehradun in Uttaranchal and Coimbatore in TamilNadu. It aims at preventing soil erosion and increase in the spread of deserts. Organises some programs like Van Mohotsav which involve plating thousands of trees along the roads, railway lines and hill slopes.
