From the chapter, we came to know about the tea plantation in Assam. In Assam, there is a large tea plantation. Tea plantation is done in more area. Where ever we see our eye caught tea bushes only. Assam has the largest concentration of tea plantation.
All the tea plants are of the same height. Tea leaves are plucked and put in bamboo baskets. The baskets are carried on one's back wearing plastic apron. Only the new sprouted leaves of the tea plant are plucked. The second sprouting period lasts from May to July. Assam also does commercial farming of tea.
Explanation:
In Assam, there is wide scope for developing Coffee and Rubber plantations. Soil Conservation Department is pioneer in introducing Coffee and Rubber in Assam. However after formation of Assam Plantation Crops Development Corporation, Soil Conservation Department has scaled down its activity in this field.
