At the time of Indian Independence like most other states in India like Himachal Pradesh has a very low level of education. Being a hilly region, with low density of population in many villages.
However,both the government of Himachal Pradesh and the people of the state has shown much interest due to the following factors.
1. The government started schools and made sure that education was largely free or cost very little for parents.
2. The schooling revolution in Himachal Pradesh was the main reason for high average of school children.
3. The government of Himachal Pradesh and the people were keen on education.
4. The government started schools that had the minimum facilities of teachers,classrooms,toilets,drinking water etc.
5. More schools were started and teachers were appointed so many children could study easily.
6. Himachal Pradesh was spending the average rupees 2005 per child on education at the same time other states spending rupees 1049 only.
