Fa hien says that there is inequality among people. There are four types of people ( Varna) in those days.
* Brahmanas - the people who are priest and scholars
* Kshatriyas - The people who are kings and does war or goes to war
*. Vaishnayas - the people who do trade and are merchants
* Shudras - lower caste people who are also known as untouchables and they work as servants to these other Varnas.
Fa hien saw people who were untouchables stuck a piece of wood on their forehead and go somewhere. They stuck these piece of wood because they should be recognised by others as untouchables. He felt that this discrimination and separation of people shouldn't be there.
