Alpha particles :- Alpha particle are the positively charged particle which has the 4 unit of mass and 2 unit of positive charge.

basically it is the positively charged Helium atom without any electron.

so, as the Helium ion has 2 protons and 2 neutrons in its nucleus , thus it has 4 unit of mass.

and , the Helium ion has 2 Proton in its nucleus, thus it has 2 unit of positive charge.

mainly, the Alpha particles are radiated from the Radioactive elements.

the process by which the Alpha particle radiated from the radioactive element is called Alpha decay.

let's understand what is alpha decay.

Alpha decay :- it is a radioactive decay process by which any radioactive element start radiating the Alpha particles from its nucleus.

it means that , that radioactive element start losing the positively charged Helium atom that has 2 protons and 2 neutrons without electrons.

so when the Alpha decay happens then the atomic mass is reduced by 4 units and atomic number of element reduced by 2 units.

and as during this process the atomic number of an element changes, thus it gives us the new element.
