The Great Himalayas or Greater Himalayas is the highest mountain range of the Himalayan Range System. This range is separated from Trans Himalaya mountain range by the Main Central Thrust Fault, and lies north of it.

The characteristics of Great Himalayas are as follows. 1) It includes all the highest mountain peaks of Himalayan Range.
2) Many glaciers such as Gangotri and Siachen originate from the Great Himalayas.
3) it is the northern most range of the Himalayas, also called greater Himalayas or inner Himalayas.

The chain of mountains is himalaya in north east!

(1). They give rise a to large numbers of rivers for irrigation.
(2).It blocks the cold winds from syberia. And also moisture bearing winds causing rainfall.

Hope it helps!!
