-I Groups are electron with drawing groups
Ex:-NF3,CN,OC6H5,H etc....
+I Groups are electron donating groups
Ex:-O,CH3-CH2-CH3 etc.....

Hey there !!!!!

_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

Inductive Effect:

→It is a permanent effect involving displacement of sigma electrons towards more electronegative species. It can be transmitted towards a chain of C-atoms and is negligible beyond third carbon atom (C₃).

→Effect caused by electron releasing groups is called +I effect.

→Effect caused by electron withdrawing groups is called -I effect.

→Order of electron withdrawing effect (-I)

   N⁺R₃>NO₂>CN>SO₃H>CHO...................

→Order of electron releasing effect (+I)

         (CH₃)₃C- > (CH₃)₂C- > CH₃CH₂........

→Inductive effect influences acidic nature of alcohols and carboxylic acids, basic nature of amines, stability of carbonium and carbanions.

Hope this helped you...............
