Canals are second most important source of irrigation in India after wells and tube wells. The Canals areirrigating those lands which have large plains, fertile soils and perennial rivers.

Main source of irrigation in south India is rainfall as we know that monsoon come there earlier in the month of June should I get a high rainfall and in winter Seasons also they receive rainfall so the source of irrigation for them is rainfall

Second the canal system in South India is also well developed which help in irrigation
