The author think that they were doing so many works by this he think that they doing many work and they also earn money good they are hard workers they work at night and day they sell newspaper, polish shoes, sell fruits etc that's why............................ earning much

The author thought that they were earning much as he saw them selling strawberries for the first time. And polishing shoes for the second time and earning money from selling newspapers. Their hard work is to save their sister who is suffering from tuberculosis.
