The maid had offered to get Juliette an engagement at the film she was also going to work for. The film people wanted a cook in the film and had asked if she knew someone suitable. They would take Juliette on for eight days which would mea eight hundred francs in total for a hundred francs each day. Juliette would only have to peel potatoes one minute and make an omlette the next which the maid herself would show her how to do. But Juliette refused saying that she was not so hard up yet.
