Antodaya programme is a government sponsored scheme that was started in 2000.

Its main aim is to provide foods to the millions of poorest families in India, to prevent their starvation due to lack of enough money.

This programme was initiated by Shanta Kumar, then Union Minister of Foods and Civil Supplies and first implemented in Rajasthan.

The poorest families are identified according to their total annual family income and granted Antodaya ration cards.
