The role played by women in the national movement in Vietnam can be examined under 3 headings:

woman in Vietnam traditionally enjoyed greater equality than in China. But they had only limited freedom to determine their future. They played no role in public life.

With the emergence of the nationalist movement, women begin to question their limited roll. They rebelled against the existing order. They sought more freedom for themselves. They began to involve themselves actively in public life and in the various activity connected with the nationalist movement.
