Answer:

Reasons for sepoys' resentment against the British: The British had introduced new 'Enfield Rifle' in the army. This rifle needed a cartridge which had a greased paper cover. For refusal to use the greased cartridges, the rebel soldiers were stripped in front of their colleagues and jailed.

Answer:

The British government introduced a new refile called the Enfild rifle for the army. the rifle had a greased paper attached round the cartridge. In order to load the rifle, a sepoy had to bite off the paper with hir mouth. A rumour spread that the greased cartridge was made from the fat of pige and cows. This deeply hurt the religious sentiments of both the Hindus and the Muslims. The sepoys refused to use the new rifles and decided to revolt.
