While we observing a substance under the microscope.Why we add glycerin and cover with a cover slip?

Glycerin is a Humectant substance and widely used in the cosmetic industries. The material remains moistened with glycerin. It tends to reflect light to clear look of the subject under the microscope.

The Main purpose of using the Coverslip is to prevent the contact of the objective lens with the specimen.
