Why and when didi mahatma gandhi suspend the non cooperation moverment?
Answers
MAHATMA GANDHI CALL OFF NON COOPERATION IN FEBRUARY 1922.
IT WAS SUSPENDED BECAUSE:
1) DUE TO CREATION OF VIOLENCE, THE INCIDENT OF CHAURI CHAURA IN UTTER PRADESH IN WHICH A PEACEFUL DEMONSTRATION TURNED INTO VIOLENCE , MORE THAN 20 POLICEMEN DIED AT THAT INCIDENT.
2) WITHIN CONGRESS , SOME LEADERS WERE TIRED OF MASS STRUGGLES AND WANTED TO PARTICIPATE IN ELECTION OF PROVINCIL COUNCILS, BUT THESE WERE NOT POSSIBLE BECAUSE IN MOVEMENT THEY CAN'T PARTICIPATE IN ELECTIONS.
3)GANDHI JI ALSO FELT THAT SATYAGRAHIS NEEDED TO PROPERLY TRAINED BEFORE READY FOR ANY MASS STRUGGLES,ALSO MANY PEOPLE INTERPRETED 'SWARAJ' IN THEIR OWN WAY, THEY STARTED TO USE VIOLENCE OR FORCE. BUT THESE WERE NOT APPROVED BY GANDHIJI SO THATS WHY IT WAS CALLED OFF.
