Robert Hooke ( born in July 18, 1635, Freshwater, Isle of Weight, England-died March 3, 1703, London), English physicist who doscovered the Law of Elasticity, known as Hooke's Law, and who did research in a remarkable variety of fields
Perhaps, his most famous observations were in study of thin slice of corks, describing the "cells" he viewed. Hooke had discovered the plant cells, or more precisely, Hooke had been viewing the cell walls in cork tissue.
