Jacobins was the name given to the special group of people in France. Members of jacobins club belonged mainly to the less prosperous section of the society. they include .artisans , shopkeepers and middle class people like teachers , doctors etc. their leader was Maximilien Robespierre. they dressed differently by wearing long stripped trousers similar to those worn by dock workers . they wanted to show themselves apart from fashionable section of the society especially nobles who wore knee breeches. they came to be called sans - culottes meaning those without knee breeches . they were enemies of nobles.
