abhinas143: the cricketer lowers his hand while catching is to reduce the speed of the ball slowly to zero instead of reducing it immediately to zero... this reduce the rate of momentum of the ball..... if they not do same they get hurt with the ball on their hand...

the cricket player move his hand backward because the velocity of the ball is very high
and when he move his hand backward the time is increase.
